I’ve been a musician for years now and over the last few years the net has absolutely revolutionized the reach and availability of music. I’ve been quite happy with the exposure that social networking sites have opened up to me, my only annoyance was how restrictive sites like myspace are with content.
But even with these flaws, I enjoy the widget features such sites have like customizable pictures, band data, music player piled high with your songs, a video, show schedule ( with tour map ), “join the mailing list” Fan Collector, and more. You can even cross-promote other artists at the base of the widget.
The list of artists are pulled from those you suggest, and revolved randomly. Great for helping out buddies, label-mates, touring partners, or other artists you suspect your fans would enjoy. So if you’re like me, a struggling musician then the internet and social networking sites may give you the exposure you’ve always wanted.
